Backups are like insurance: boring and very important. It’s only when you need to revert to a backup that you’re glad that you have one.
Remember that Cloud services like OneDrive, iCloud and Google Drive are NOT backup solutions for your computer, they merely synchronize files between your computers and the cloud. If a file is deleted from your computer, it will also be deleted from the cloud. And if the file get encrypted by ransomware, the cloud version will also be encrypted!
So a backup is an exact copy of your data at a given point of time. This copy is stored either on a different hard drive or in the cloud as a complete set. The objective is to be able to revert to this backup to retrieve your data in case of deletion or corruption.
My solution: Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office
Windows 10 and 11 don’t come with a built-in backup solution so I recommend using a paid solution like Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office: https://www.acronis.com/en-sg/products/true-image
It provides a comprehensive automated backup solution for all your devices in the cloud as well as anti malware products.
